This past Saturday, May 11th, 2024 we held a terrific event that was part of National Fire Service Day!
Here in Los Angeles the LAFD has designated the second Saturday in May as "Fire Service Day". This year, the theme was "Celebrating Community Resilience", with a focus on strengthening the connections that benefit our entire community in times of crisis.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE FIREFIGHTERS OF SYLMAR'S STATION #91!
The Barony of Altavia celebrated its 41st anniversary here in Sylmar at Veteran's Park on Saturday, May 11th, 2024. This glorious day celebrated all things William Marshall, one of the greatest knights of the Anglo-Norman period and perhaps of all time, with a ransom tournament format. They had brave fighters and knights, artisans, bards, and so many wonderful members of the SCA. This was a fun and friendly event. Very Educational!!

If you witness a fire or injury dial 911.
Using this reporting system will not result in the dispatching of Services. This is solely so we as a community can report to LA City the frequency and intensity of the situation to help gain increased emergency services in our area.
Sylmar Neighborhood Council
Join us for a fantastic day of honoring and thanking the brave men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Sylmar has one Fire Station! We will be there for fun, tours, treats, demonstrations, resources and so much more!
This is a great opportunity to let the kids (and some adults) climb and take photos on a Fire Truck!
Just as in the United States, May is big for moms in Mexico. But unlike the U.S.A., Mother's Day in Mexico is celebrated every May 10, as opposed to the second Sunday in May. El Dia de la Madre is a time to give moms their due, to gather together with family and to honor the huge role mothers play in everyone’s lives.
